Water Exercise Classes- Summer Register View Cart

There will be a skip week for Water Exercise programs between June 23rd and June 27th 

Program Description: 
Our Water Fitness Classes offer several different types of classes that are based on improving your balance, coordination, endurance, conditioning while in a low impact aquatic environment that offers unique resistance with movement and activity, which may offer increased calorie burn depending on your intensity level.  

About the Instructor(s): 
Our instructors have accumulated 10+ years of experience in Water Fitness, Fit Float, Hydro rider, Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Boot camp, Aqua Arthritis, Aqua Zumba and Aqua Arthritis classes. We have instructors that have also specialized in Aqua Ai Chi. 

Additional Information as Needed:  
- Our Water fitness classes focus on participants 18 years or older.
- Be sure to bring a swim suit, towel, water bottle, change of clothes.
- Please arrive 15 min early to prepare for the class and we can start promptly at the planned time.
- Water shoes are optional except for our Hydro-rider classes.
- Hydro-rider does require some adjustments to in water bike and water shoes are required (due to moving parts and foot straps)
- There is no refund unless more than 2 classes are cancelled (due to weather or conflicting events) and we would provide options at that point.
- Friday of the end of the week of our programmed classes there will also be a survey e-mailed. We would love to get your feedback so that we can see if your goals are being met or if there are any recommendations for improvement.

     - Benefit # 2: Help our program participants to reach their fitness goals with high quality exercise with a focus on class driven goals; including but not limited to joint mobility, endurance, balance and strengthening of major muscle groups. By offering specialized classes that focus on high intensity, middle intensity and low intensity classes we aim to address specific participant needs based on goals patrons are aiming to achieve.
     - Benefit # 3: Affordable high level Water Fitness classes that is accessible to all Bristol Residents while promoting diversity, understanding and unity within our adult and senior community members.


Aqua Aerobics
Aqua aerobics classes are designed to maximize various movement patterns and speed to activate both large and smaller muscle groups to maximize water's natural resistance to increase one's cardiovascular conditioning. Some movements include both active and static movement for balance, core and muscle strengthening and endurance while in a low impact environment. Aqua Aerobics is an excellent way to meet your fitness goals with Low Joint impact as it is a beneficial full body workout with a lower risk of injury than its land-based equivalent. This form of water exercise is also suitable for people of all ages, including participants 18 years or older, and can quickly improve your overall fitness. Participants who could benefit from Aqua Aerobics; are those with limited mobility, physical restrictions. What you will get out of Aqua Aerobics includes burning of calories, working major muscle groups, cardiovascular endurance and overall body toning while improving your balance and coordination.

Aqua Ai Chi
Ai Chi movements can be used to improve movement in patrons who have chronic pain, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder, Balance Deficits, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, or other neurological and orthopedic conditions. The movements provide improved stability during stepping skills that play a crucial role in reducing fall risk. Ai Chi also uses breathing techniques and progressive resistance training in water to relax and strengthen the body. Ai Chi is known to improve joint flexibility, balance and coordination, muscle strength and endurance, gait and locomotion, aerobic capacity and breath control, promote relaxation and stress relief. Classes are to be taught by Julia Meno, CTRS, CMT, ATRIC. Founder of Therapeutic Aquatics, Inc. She specializes in Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation. Aqua Boot Camp
This 45 minute workout will get you into shape fast using a variety of unconventional training methods on land and in the water. Workouts are designed to sculpt, tone, and motivate participants in a fast-paced environment. Classes will differ and are meant to incorporate variety and fresh content each class.

Aqua Zumba
Aqua Zumba brings new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Aqua Zumba combines the South American Zumba rhythm and dance steps with a pool party. This program offers a fun but challenging, water-based, body-toning workout. So, liven up your working week with some Latin fever! Known as the Zumba ‘pool party’, Aqua Zumba classes are about an hour long and are taught by an instructor. Changing rhythms combined with different sequences of movement while having the benefit of water resistance training, will make you sweat. This is a fun Latin way to party those calories off by using Zumba styles including moves from salsa, mambo, cha-cha-cha, soch, and samba to name a few. Expect to do exaggerated dance moves. The tempo is slower than normal compared to land-based Zumba due to the resistance of the water. Movements will include exaggerated circles with the hips, stepping to the side, front to back and extending one's arms to the sides and to the front and back. If you want to get a little fitter and are the sort of person who has to swing their hips to the right song, then Aqua Zumba is for you. Participants can burn around 350 calories for each class!

Aquatics for Arthritis
We offer programs through the American Arthritis Foundation taught by our certified Arthritis Foundation Program Leader. An AEA program leader is an individual trained to lead community, aquatics-based group exercise classes designed specifically for individuals with arthritis, related rheumatic diseases and additional musculoskeletal conditions. The Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program and the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program are structured group exercise classes following specified guidelines most appropriate for those with such chronic health conditions. Currently, we are offering two courses: - Arthritis - (Fountain of Youth) will focus on exercises approved by the Arthritis Foundation which include walking, gentle stretching, flexing, extension and range-of-motion. Exercises are done in shallow water and focus on activities of daily living, joint movement through its range of motion and holding it to feel gentle stretching through various muscle groups. - Arthritis - (Aqua-Interval) will focus on the older adult population. The instructor leads participants through cardio movements such as walking, jogging, kicking, cross-country ski movements and jumping jacks. Low-impact exercises.

This class invites you to explore core stabilization and various fitness modalities like yoga, pilates, and high intensity training. Hydrorider Underwater Cycling
The Hydrorider is a stationary cycling bike, but in the water. Participants with joint, muscle, or bone pain will benefit from the low impact and patterned motion of the foot pedals. The water’s buoyancy reduces the strain on your body; as a result, reducing the impact the exercise has on your joints compared to a land-based workouts. The cooling effect of the water helps those who do not like the feel of sweat on their skin. Hydrorider will promote calorie burn, reduce cellulite, enhance blood flow, ease joint pain and jump start your recovery. The instructor will be on the deck and in the water to instruct and to help as needed. Be ready to sweat!
