Page Park: Phase II Construction Work to Impact Amenity Access in June and July
Playground, Splash Pad, Basketball Court, Parking Lot and Ski Lodge to Temporarily Close
Bristol, CT – [June 23, 2026] – The City of Bristol’s Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) announced that a handful of Page Park amenities will be closed during June and July due to heavy equipment movement and construction traffic required to support Phase II Revitalization plans.
The lower parking lot located at the entrance of the park near King Street, the playground and splash pad, the basketball court and the Ski Lodge will all be closed temporarily:
- The Playground and Splash Pad: Closed 6/29/26 - 7/3/26
- The Lower-Level Parking Lot, Ski Lodge, and Basketball Court: Closed 6/29/26 - 7/10/26

BPRYCS Superintendent Dr. Joshua Medeiros said, “We recognize the timing of the closure is not ideal with summer bringing heavy playground use, splash pad use, and an overall influx of community member use. Unfortunately, when we asked the construction company if we could hold off on the work until the end of summer and delay the closures, they reiterated the importance of the closure happening now; not only for overall project progression but also to ensure erosion and sedimentation control. Completing this drainage infrastructure now is becoming more critical each day to properly manage site runoff.”
Dewitt Page Park Road access will not be impacted. Community members are directed to park in the upper tennis parking lot.
“We are working with the construction company to coordinate the required closures in a manner that minimizes impacts to the public, provided it can be accomplished without compromising the project schedule or pedestrian safety,” continued Medeiros.
BPRYCS is encouraging community members to use alternate playground and splash pad locations at Stocks Playground (218 Middle Street) and Rockwell Park (63 Dutton Avenue). Additional playgrounds are also located at Seymour Park (275 Shrub Road), Federal Hill Green (40 Queen Street), and Brackett Park (35 North Main Street).
Alternate basketball court locations include Stocks Playground (218 Middle Street), Rockwell Park (63 Dutton Avenue), Brackett Park (35 North Main Street), and Seymour Park (275 Shrub Road).
Signage will be posted in the areas and a map of amenity closures is available at the Parks Project Portal. Community members interested in learning more about the Page Park Revitalization Project are encouraged to visit the Parks Project Portal, accessible via www.BristolRec.com.
