New Playground Planned for Page Park
Community Members Asked to Share Feedback on Proposed Playground Designs
Bristol, CT – [May 29, 2026] – Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is excited to share that a new playground is planned for Page Park in Bristol, CT. As part of the ongoing Upgrade Your Play campaign, the department is asking the community for their input on two proposed playground designs. Voting on the new playground design is open through June 26th via the department’s online Parks Project Portal accessible at BristolRec.com. Community members are encouraged to review proposed playground plans and renderings and then provide feedback that will be used to finalize the playground designs and equipment selection.
Community members are able to review two proposed playground designs; both designs serve children ages 2 to 12 and include elevated and ground level accessible play elements, slides, and climbing elements.
Dr. Joshua Medeiros, BPRYCS Superintendent, explained “We have eagerly been looking forward to this part of the Page Park Revitalization project since it was announced in 2021. As part of phase two of the project, the playground is not only being upgraded, but also relocated. The work is scheduled to take place through Spring of 2027 and when everything is complete, the playground will be located across the road from Page Park pool and adjacent to a new great lawn area, splash pad, and parking lot. The location was approved by the Board of Parks Commissioners in 2024 and now we are finally ready to bring the playground design to life.”
The new playground is part of an overall revitalization project for Page Park that began in 2024 and is expected to conclude in 2027. The project is funded by the City of Bristol Capital Improvement Plan which includes an $8.5 million dollar appropriation for fiscal year 2027.
“The current playground was installed in 2002 with the support from a generous donation from the Bristol Rotary Club to create an inclusive ‘All-Children’s’ playground,” added BPRYCS Deputy Superintendent Sarah Larson. “Unfortunately, the current playground has reached the end of its lifespan and we are no longer able to reliably get parts to fix the aging equipment. We are excited to use the Upgrade Your Play campaign to ensure that the new playground carries on the Rotary Club’s legacy of providing inclusive and accessible opportunities for play in Bristol.”
The Upgrade Your Play campaign aims to understand community needs and solicit feedback in order to deliver high quality facilities to Bristol residents. The campaign launched in 2022 with intergenerational swings selection and has since been used to finalize playground designs at E.G. Stocks Playground and Casey Field in 2023, Seymour Park in 2024, and Federal Hill Green in 2025.
“To date, we’ve had just shy of 5,000 pieces of feedback submitted as part of the Upgrade Your Play campaign,” remarked Community Engagement Coordinator, Erica Benoit. “We’re hoping to continue that momentum and engagement into the selection process for Page Park’s new playground.”
Feedback is being collected until 5:30 PM on Thursday, June 26th. Community members can provide feedback, questions, and commentary on playground designs by going to the Parks Project Portal at https://bprycs-project-portal.constantcontactsites.com/upgrade-your-play-page-park.
