28th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Event Winners Announced
Bristol, CT – [December 1, 2025] Bristol community members and families helped kick off the holiday season at the Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) Department’s 28th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Contest. The Turkey Shoot proved to be a huge success, bringing together athletes, families, and fans for a fun-filled morning of competition and community spirit. Held indoors at Chippens Hill Middle School on Saturday, November 22nd, the event showcased impressive athleticism, sportsmanship, and plenty of holiday cheer.
Bristol youth, ages 4-13-years-old, partnered with an adult team mate to sink as many foul shots as possible. The Turkey Shoot competition was split into 5 divisions, based on age, with the winning teams from each division winning a gift card to Price Chopper/Market 32 to purchase a turkey for Thanksgiving.
Divisional Winners:
- 4-5-Year-Old Division Winners: Ryan Russell and Ryan Russell
- 6-7-Year-Old Division Winners: Drew McKay and Erik McKay
- 8-9-Year-Old Division Winners: Carmelo Ventura and Marcos Ventura tied with Braxton Desjardins and Kim Lour
- 10-11-Year-Old Division Winners: Kyrie Adams and Mason Stokes
- 12-13-Year-Old Division Winners: J’Meson Walker and Shianne Walker
Recreation Program Assistant Madison Fostervold commented, “The Turkey Shoot has become such a special tradition. Every year we see siblings, parents, grandparents, guardians, and friends come together to cheer on one another. The kind of energy that can be felt in the gym that morning highlights why this event has remained such a meaningful tradition for so many years. It's all about community, fun, and getting into the holiday spirit. We are so fortunate to offer the Turkey Shoot to our residents at no cost, helping remove barriers when it comes these types of special events this time of year.”
Over 160 participants competed across five divisions. Although the winners of each division received the Price Chopper gift card, all participants received a door prize including an event t-shirt. Participants were also awarded a raffle prize such as new sports gear and equipment, tickets to a basketball game, over the door basketball hoops, gift cards, and more!
“BPRYCS would not have been able to offer such a high-level event without the support and buy-in from the groups within our community. Encore Fire Protection, Bloodline Basketball, Bristol Sports Armory, Bristol-Burlington Health District, Bristol Eliminating Substance Use Together (BEST), CT Sun, Dick's Sporting Goods, Healthtrax, Lake Compounce, Price Chopper, Primo Press, Rich Farm Ice Cream, UCONN Men's Basketball, UCONN Women's Basketball, and Yale Men's Basketball all contributed to this year’s Turkey Shoot. These contributions ensured that each youth participant was able to go home with a prize from the event,” Fostervold said.
BPRYCS would like to thank all of this year’s Turkey Shoot Basketball Contests participants and sponsors. A special congratulations is extended to all of this year’s Turkey Shoot winners. Please join us next year around Thanksgiving, date to-be-determined, when BPRYCS will host the 29th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Contest.
