Bristol’s City Arts and Culture Commission to host Coffin Races at the NexGen Trunk or Treat Car Show
Bristol, CT – [September 30, 2025] – The City Arts and Culture Commission and Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BRPCYS) invites community members to participate in the Coffin Races at the NexGen Trunk or Treat Car Show on October 25, 2025.
The family-friendly event will feature a variety of activities to enjoy including a trunk-or-treating, live DJ, costume contests, apple bobbing, ax throwing contest, tug a war, and the great return of the City’s Arts and Culture Coffin Races; brought back after much success at the 2024 Halloween Spooktacular. The Nexgen Trunk or Treat Car Show will be held at 70 Memorial Boulevard in Bristol, Connecticut from 1 to 6 PM with coffin races beginning at 3 PM.

BPRYCS Arts and Culture Supervisor and City Arts and Culture Liaison Arianna Therriault, said, “We are thrilled to be bringing back the coffin races again in 2025. Community members are challenged to make and build their own coffins to race through the event. It’s fun and silly community good-ness every step of the way. From picking a theme and making the coffin, to dressing up and racing through the crowd, it’s a nice way to get people involved, get creative, and enjoy Halloween.”
Coffins will be raced by teams of four people through 500 feet of obstacles with skeletons, aliens, monsters and the unknown to reach their final resting place – the finish line!

All of the proceeds from the Coffin Race will fund City Arts and Culture initiatives in the City of Bristol. Advanced registration is required to participate in the Coffin Race and is $50 per team of four racers. All coffin race participants must be 18 years of age or older. Coffins must be between 24 to 37.2 inches wide and five to eight feet long (including push bars). Wheel/tire diameters may not exceed 8.25 inches. Community members can sign up for the Coffin Races and view all the specs by visiting the BPRYCS website at www.BristolRec.com.

Walt Lewandoski, Chair of the Arts and Culture Commission noted, “We would love to see your creativity and athleticism combine for a ghoulish competition with great prizes!”
The Nexgen Trunk or Treat Car Show is free to spectators and ranges in price depending on contest participation.
