Bristol Invites Community Members to Participate in the Inaugural Pickleball Tournament at the newly opened Page Park Pickleball Courts
Bristol, CT – [July 17, 2025] – Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is inviting community members to participate in the Inaugural Pickleball Tournament being held at the newly constructed pickleball courts at Page Park.
To celebrate the soft opening of the pickleball courts at Page Park, located at 649 King Street, BPRYCS is hosting an inaugural Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The tournament is broken into a competitive and recreational division and all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. All teams will compete in round robin play, with top finishers advancing to a single elimination bracket that will determine the tournament champions.
Superintendent of BPRYCS, Dr. Joshua Medeiros, expressed his excitement, “There has been a growing need for more pickleball opportunities in Bristol over the past few years. This is a great opportunity for community members to come check out the new courts, meet other community members with similar interests, and enjoy the outdoors.”
The tournament format guarantees each registered team a minimum of five games of play. Round robin games will be played to a score of eleven (win by one) and tournament games will be played to eleven (win by two). The tournament will follow USA Pickleball rule. Camp Pickleball staff will be onsite and monitoring courts for game play questions and/or rule interpretations.
Recreation Supervisor, Amry Shelby, noted, “We’re grateful for all of support from the community. We have a number of local businesses supporting the tournament. Thank you to Bristol Health, ShopRite of Bristol, Rich Farm Ice Cream, Bristol Burlington Health District, Jersey Mikes, Healthtrax, Encore Fire Protection, Diversified Engraving, and the Bristol Sports Armory for your support!”
Registration is $100 per team of two people and includes an event t-shirt for each player. Community members can register by visiting BristolRec.com, the BPRYCS office at 51 High Street, or by calling (860) 584-6160. Registration ends on July 20, 2025. Following registration, BPRYCS will sub divide each division by age, sex, and/or rating based on the number of registrants.
The pickleball courts at Page Park softly opened for public use on July 1st. BPRYCS reminds community members that Page Park is still under construction with additional Phase I amenities being worked on and completed over the coming months. Outstanding work includes paving, landscaping, and sign installation. The community is asked to be patient and understanding while the work continues.
