Soft Opening of the Pickleball Courts at Bristol’s Page Park Announced for July 1st
Bristol, CT – [June 26, 2025] – Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is excited to announce the soft opening of the pickleball courts at Page Park on July 1, 2025. Tennis courts at Page Park will also reopen to community members on July 1st.
Page Park, located at 649 King Street, is undergoing the first phase of a multi-million-dollar revitalization project which includes the construction of new parking lots, pedestrian access, improved lighting and trail systems, infrastructure improvements to the pond and watercourse and the construction of a new tennis/pickleball complex which includes a shaded cover, picnic pavilion, ADA accessible pathways and four new lighted pickleball courts.
Mayor Jeff Caggiano expressed his enthusiasm for the new courts stating, “The pickleball courts at Seymour Park quickly became one of our most popular amenities. I go by that park regularly and it’s always packed. I’m excited to be offering another amenity for our residents to play pickleball and these courts will be available later into the night once the lights are fully activated later this year.”
Superintendent of BPRYCS, Dr. Joshua Medeiros added, “We’re incredibly pleased with the progress of Page Park Revitalization. The opening of our new courts marks the first major milestone in this transformative renovation. Our 2020 Master Plan identified a deficit of pickleball courts in the city and we are excited to be able to deliver on our promise to meet the growing recreational needs of Bristol residents.”
Medeiros noted, “this is a soft opening and Page Park is still under construction with additional Phase I amenities being worked on and completed. There is still paving to be done, landscaping to do, signage to be installed, and the lights are not yet fully programmed. We’re asking community members to be patient and understanding while we continue work on the project as a whole.”
The pickleball courts and tennis courts will operate on a first-come, first-served basis for public use. BPRYCS offers 2-hour court rentals on a limited basis for $25.00 or $100.00 for a seasonal rental. Courts can most easily be accessed from the King Street entrance to Page Park, with parking available across the street from the courts at the playground and basketball court.
To celebrate the soft opening, BPRYCS is hosting an inaugural Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The tournament is broken into a competitive and recreational division and all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. Registration is $100 per team of two people and includes an event t-shirt for each player. Community members can register by visiting BristolRec.com, the BPRYCS office at 51 High Street, or by calling (860) 584-6160. Registration ends on July 20, 2025.
Upon completion of all construction work on Phase I of the Page Park Revitalization, a grand opening and ribbon cutting event will be announced for late 2025/early winter 2026. Phase 2 of the revitalization is expected to get underway in early 2026.
