Soul Sound Revue returns to Bristol for 40th Anniversary Show this Saturday, March 1st
Bristol, CT – [February 24, 2025] – Soul Sound Revue returns to Bristol, Connecticut this Saturday, March 1st for their 40th Anniversary Show presented by Downtown Live at the Rockwell Theater.
Soul Sound Revue has been entertaining the Bristol community for years with performances at the Rockwell Summer Concert series and the Mum Festival. Now they’re taking over the big stage for their biggest celebration yet – their 40th Anniversary performance! Bristol community members are invited to join Soul Sound Revue for an electrifying evening of timeless music to celebrate four decades of Motown, Funk, and R&B.
Soul Sound Revue Music Director, Mark Varlese expressed his excitement for the show, “We are beyond excited to celebrate our 40th anniversary with a special performance at the Rockwell Theater in our hometown of Bristol, CT! Back in 1985, Soul Sound Revue started playing at venues across New England, never imagining that our journey would take us all over the U.S. and Canada. What we thought might last three or four years has turned into four incredible decades and thousands of performances—and we couldn’t have done it without you! Let’s make this milestone one to remember!”
Whether your taste is The Drifters' "Under the Boardwalk," Stevie Wonder's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," Phil Collins's "Easy Lover," or Wilson Pickett's "Mustang Sally," Soul Sound Revue will have you out of your seat and dancing in the aisles.
Musical Director, Mark Varlese is joined on stage by vocalists, Mike Childs, Jr., Steven King, Jr., Elden Lowery, bassist, Brett Jefferson, guitarist, Eric Leone, drums, Mark Manczuk, tenor saxophonist, Chris Hebert and Jim Hunt on the trumpet. Jerry Kristafer – Legendary CT Radio morning show personality - will host the show, with guest stars, Dan Ciprianno on tenor saxophone and Haneef Nelson on Trumpet.
Bristol’s Arts & Culture Supervisor, Arianna Therriault remarked, “Soul Sound Revue knows how to get the crowd moving and grooving. They are so high energy it’s impossible not to sing and dance along. For their 40th Anniversary it’s sure to a big party with a lot of fun energy flowing through the theater – I can’t wait!”
The vocal/instrumental mix brings to life the unique stylings of the best in 1960s, '70s, and ‘80s R&B and soul, reminiscent of acts like the Four Tops, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Barry White and James Brown. With all its flash and finery, reminiscent of a time when a band’s looks were as important as their sound… Soul Sound Revue’s three lead vocalists explode onto the stage backed by a power house rhythm and horn section.
With an illustrious history of performing all over the country, Soul Sound Revue has performed with the Chi-Lites, The Drifters, Tower of Power, Little Anthony and the Imperials, among many others.
The show begins at 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, and doors open at 6:00 PM. Downtown Live takes place at the Rockwell Theater, located inside the Bristol Arts and Innovation Magnet School at 70 Memorial Boulevard, Bristol, CT 06010. Concessions are available upon entry.
