27^th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Contest Returns on November 23^rd

Bristol, CT – [November 13, 2024] Win a Thanksgiving Turkey! Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services department is excited to announce the 27^th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Free Throw Contest. The contest will be held at Chippens Hill Middle School on November 23, 2024 in the gymnasium. Children, ages 4 through 13, will work together with a grownup of their choice to each attempt 10 foul shots and 3 shots of their choice for a chance to win a gift card to purchase a Thanksgiving turkey. One team from each age division will win a $25 gift certificate to Price Chopper to purchase a turkey for Thanksgiving.

Generous sponsors make this event possible by providing various raffle and door prizes that will be awarded throughout the event. A huge thank you to Primo Press, Price Chopper, Dick's Sporting Goods, State Farm - Zach Ibanez, BEST, Bloodline Basketball, UConn Athletics, CT Sun, Lake Compounce, Quinnipiac Athletics, Fairfield University Athletics, Hartford Shockers, Yale Athletics, and Spare Time Entertainment for their generosity and commitment to making this event the best it can be.

Recreation Program Assistant, Madison Fostervold showed her enthusiasm for the event stating, “The Turkey Shoot is a great family event that we are able to bring back year after year right before the holiday season. We are looking forward to seeing even more new and familiar families participate this year!”

Participants are encouraged to arrive 5-10 minutes before their start time to check in and warm up before the competition. Teams will start at different times depending on the child’s age:

9:30 AM – Ages 4 & 5
10:00 AM – Ages 6 & 7
10:30 AM – Ages 8 & 9
11:00 AM – Ages 10 & 11
11:30 AM – Ages 12 & 13

Fostervold explained, “This event is open to all skill levels—whether you’re a seasoned player or just looking to have some festive fun. Participants showcase their shooting skills and take their shot at winning exciting prizes and raffles. Spectators are encouraged to come and cheer on their friends and family and connect with others!”

The event is FREE, but pre-registration is required for each child who participates. All participants are asked to arrive at Chippens Hill Middle School (551 Peacedale St, Bristol, CT 06010) at least 5 minutes prior to their division start time for check in.
