Lifelong Bristol native Ashante Malone selected as Youth & Family Coordinator
Bristol, CT – [August 17, 2023] – The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is pleased to announce the selection of Bristol resident Ashante Malone to assume the role of Youth and Family Coordinator. The Youth and Family Coordinator provides casework services including counseling, guidance, outreach and crisis intervention to young people and their families; as well as providing essential youth development programs throughout the year.
Ashante comes to the city holding a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with Criminal Justice
Concentration from Charter Oak State College and she just graduated in 2023 with her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. Over the past 13 years Ashante has worked with youth and families in a variety of roles including Program Director at the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, a Youth Services Officer with the State of Connecticut and most recently as a Social Worker for the Department of Children and Families.
Youth and Community Services Supervisor Stephen Bynum stated, “We are excited to have Ashante join our department. She possesses the knowledge, energy and experience to be a good fit for the position and skill set to uplift the work in our Youth and Community Services division.”
Superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros added, “Ashante immediately captivated us with her infectious energy and passion for serving youth. As a resident of Bristol, Ashante comes to us with deep community connections, coupled with over a decade of direct youth service experience and a strong educational foundation. We are so excited for the new energy Ashante is bringing to our professional team!”
In anticipation of her new role, Ashante said, “As a lifetime Bristol native, I am very excited to join the Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services Department. After many years working with youth and families, I am excited to be able to partner with and serve my home community!”
Ashante begins her service to the department on Monday September 11, 2023 with an annual starting salary of $69,065/yr.
