6th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt to be held on August 24th
Bristol, CT – [August 15, 2023] – Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS), in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office, will host the 6th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt on August 24th. This year’s Pencil Hunt will provide Bristol Pre-K through 8th grade students with the school supplies they need to better ensure a successful start to the 2023-2024 school year.
The 6th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 24th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Muzzy Field. Participants will be divided by grade level and will hunt for pencils spread across the historic field.
“Our goal is not just to create excitement surrounding going back to school,” explained Sarah Larson, Deputy Superintendent of BPRYCS, “but also to connect students and their families with the resources they need to have a successful school year, whether that is school supplies or community partners.”
Each participant will take home an age-appropriate goodie bag filled with school supplies. Children who pull specially-marked pencils will take home surprise Silver or Gold prizes, in addition to their school supply goodie bag.
Registration is free and can be completed online at www.bristolct.myrec.com or by calling the BPRYCS Main Office at (860)584-6160. Participants should allow fifteen minutes for check-in prior to the beginning of their designated start time.
