Downtown Live at Rockwell Theater Fall Schedule Release

 
Bristol, CT – [July 24, 2023] The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) in coordination with the Bristol Arts and Innovation Magnet School (BAIMS) is excited to present the 2023 performance schedule for Downtown Live at the Rockwell Theater. Downtown Live will feature an ongoing array of curated live entertainment from musical and dance performances, to comedy shows, education and lecture series, children's series, and more. Interested community members and guests are able to purchase tickets online at BristolRec.com and pick a seat of their choice through a newly implemented ticketing platform. 

  • Celebrating Queen
    • Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 8 PM (Doors open at 7 PM) – To kick off the Downtown Live series, BPRYCS is excited to present Celebrating Queen – A Queen tribute band out of Las Vegas.  The shows lead singer, Joe Archembeault is a Bristol Native and is very excited to be coming back to Bristol to perform in his hometown. They have an incredible following and have toured extensively in Europe as well as playing in many high-profile festivals and concerts across the US.
     
    Rocky Horror Picture Show with Live Shadow-casting by RKO Army
    • Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 7 PM (Doors open at 5:30 PM) - RKO Army is a shadow-cast group performing in the Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut, and southern Massachusetts area since 1981.  They are known primarily for their legendary performances of Rocky Horror Picture Show and are looking forward to bestowing their talented shadow-cast of this cult classic film at Downtown Live.
     
    Scenes – A Billy Joel Experience
    • Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 7 PM (Doors open at 6PM) - Formerly known as Cold Spring Harbor, Scenes – A Billy Joel Experience, has been performing throughout New England and beyond since 2013. Their mission from the beginning was to celebrate and recreate the music of Billy Joel to the highest and most authentic standard. 
     
    Christmas with the Nashville KING, starring John Beardsley
    • Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at 7 PM (Doors open at 6 PM) - Join Bristol’s own, John Beardsley, as he returns home to celebrate Elvis’ Christmas music at the first stage John ever performed on!  Enjoy and evening with the Nashville KING, as he brings you on a song filled journey through holiday classics by the King of Rock n' Roll, Elvis Presley.   
 
Superintendent of BPRYCS, Josh Medeiros commented, “We are incredibly pleased to release the first series of Downtown Live performances at the Rockwell Theater. As someone who has personally been involved with this theater for over a decade it is so rewarding to finally see the hard work of countless individuals come to fruition. This theater and the Downtown Live series will be the catalyst for an economic boom coming to Bristol downtown and our team is so excited to have a part in it!”

Mayor Jeffrey Caggiano stated, “Downtown Live coming to life is thanks to the great work of our City Arts and Culture Commission and our Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services team. This is another puzzle piece that represents the ‘play’ in downtown which will add an economic boost to our downtown businesses.”

Arts and Culture Supervisor, Arianna Therriault shared, “The city has been working so hard to get the Downtown Live series at the Rockwell Theater up and running for the public, and I am thrilled to be getting in on the excitement.  These performances will be wonderfully eclectic and uplifting for all of Bristol and the surrounding towns.”
 
Tickets range in price from $15 to $40 a person depending on the show. Tickets for all Downtown Live performances are available at www.bristolrec.com .
