Bristol Resident Raven Cody selected as Youth & Family Coordinator
 
Bristol, CT – [June 2, 2023] – The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services is pleased to announce the selection of Bristol resident Raven Cody to assume the role of Youth and Family Coordinator. The Youth and Family Coordinator provides casework services including counseling, guidance, outreach and crisis intervention to young people and their families; as well as providing essential youth development programs throughout the year. 

Raven comes to the city holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Central Connecticut State University and she just graduated in May 2023 with her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. Over the past 7 years Raven has worked with youth and families in a variety of roles including as a summer camp head counselor in Wolcott, substitute teacher, child welfare intern with the Department of Children and Families in New Britain. Most recently, Raven served the Bristol community as a social work intern at Mountain View Elementary School where she facilitated group sessions and conducted case management to track students’ academic and behavioral progress.
 
 Youth and Community Services Supervisor Stephen Bynum stated, “Raven is the perfect complement to our team and brings the personality and work ethic needed to help the youth of Bristol grow.”
 
Superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros added, “After an extensive interview process it was clear that Raven was the best fit for this role. She is incredibly enthusiastic, out-going and genuine. She has a clear passion for her work and a philosophy that really places the needs of youth first. Raven is an incredibly impressive young woman and we are very excited for her to join our team.”
 
In anticipation of her new role, Raven said, “As a Bristol resident, I am excited to apply my education in social work along with my passion for working with youth and families to best serve our community!.”
 

Raven begins her service to the department on Monday June 12, 2023 with an annual starting salary of $64,333.
