Second Annual Dinner on the Diamond Scheduled for Saturday, May 13th

Bristol, CT – [April 26, 2023] The City of Bristol’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is excited to be hosting the Second Annual Dinner on the Diamond at Muzzy Field on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. All profits from the evening will go toward the Friends of Bristol Parks and Recreation Fund through the Main Street Community Foundation to support coalition and community driven projects, programs, volunteerism and stewardship initiatives.

The evening will feature live music from local band Southern Voice and catering provided by Greenhouse Tavern and Café. Guests will enjoy drinks, a four course meal, entertainment, and a rare view from the playing field, while supporting the Bristol parks system.

“Dinner on the Diamond is the department’s largest fundraising effort of the year; where we celebrate and thank community partners for their ongoing support in front of local leaders, business owners, and dedicated community members and park users,” explained Josh Medeiros, Superintendent of BPRYCS. “This year we’ve integrated the new All Heart Park Advocate of the Year Award into the program. Over the years so many community members have donated, volunteered their time, and contributed to making the Bristol park system one of the best in the state. We are excited to be presenting this year’s award to Former Mayor Ellen Zoppo Sassu.”

Ellen reflected, “Bristol is so fortunate to have had so many benefactors over the last century and it is so important to invest and improve upon these assets,” said Zoppo-Sassu. “Parks are a quality of life indicator for the community and I am very proud of all of the accomplishments that we as a team were able to get done for future generations to enjoy, including the recent acquisition of Pigeon Hill off of Shrub Road.”

Mayor Jeffrey Caggiano, BPRYCS, and the City’s Board of Park Commissioners invite community members and residents to reserve a seat and join the celebration.
Individual and couple tickets for Dinner on the Diamond are now open to the public at www.BristolRec.com and provide a rare view from the playing field with tables set up on the infield. Each table will seat eight people and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with tickets starting at $125 for individuals and couple tickets priced at $225. Attire is business casual/cocktail and guests are encouraged to use caution if planning to wear heels. The rain date for the event is Saturday, May 20, 2023.
