Welcome to Bristol Splash, a Yankee League and  USA Swimming Competitive Swim Team!

Splash Team Mission Statement: The mission of the Bristol Splash swim team is to combine fun and competition.  This will be achieved by fostering friendships through teamwork, participants’ personal growth, building stroke mechanics, and developing new skills.  Bristol Splash team's main goal is to introduce participants to the sport of swimming, to teach skills based on their ability in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where participants can improve their skills at their own pace while enhancing their social and emotional development.

Tryouts for  new swimmers will be held on Friday, September 18th from 5:00 PM – 6:15 PM. Tryouts are for new participants only, and new participants should not register until after tryouts have
concluded.

The Bristol Splash Swim Team consists of two programs. The first is our Grassroots Program, which gives swimmers the opportunity to compete in swim meets, develop proper stroke technique, and build teamwork and social skills. This program is designed for swimmers who wish to participate in the Yankee League Swim Division.  The second is the USA swim team that requires more commitment and devotion.

Practices are held five days per week, depending on the swimmer's assigned sub-team. Sub-teams consist of Grey Team, White Team, Black Team, and Gold Team. Team placement is determined through a swim evaluation (tryout) or by a coach's recommendation for advancement.

Team Levels:
  • Grey Team: The Grey Team is our beginner group. The primary focus is developing proper technique in the four competitive strokes in the following order:
    • Freestyle
    • Backstroke
    • Breaststroke
    • Butterfly
Swimmers complete fewer yards than the more advanced groups while receiving high-quality coaching to build strong fundamentals and prepare for swim meets.
  • White Team: The White Team is our advanced beginner group. Swimmers continue refining the four competitive strokes while increasing the number of yards swum during practice. The emphasis is on improving both stroke technique and swimming endurance.
  • Black Team: The Black Team is our intermediate group. Swimmers have a solid foundation in all four competitive strokes but continue to refine their technique. Practices focus on building endurance, strength, and overall race performance.
  • Gold Team: The Gold Team is our highest-level training group. Swimmers participate in dryland strength and conditioning, advanced endurance training, race-specific workouts, and continued refinement of stroke mechanics.

The Splash Swim Team is available for youth ages 6 to 18 who meet the following requirements:

1.) Swim 1 length (25 yards) of the pool demonstrating freestyle with rhythmic breathing
2.) Swim 1 length of pool demonstrating backstroke continuously.
3.) Able to attend a minimum of 5 meets throughout the season.  Practice will be held weekdays beginning in mid-September and will run through March.

Program Expectations:
Please note that this is not a swim lesson program. Bristol Splash is a competitive swim club, and participation requires a commitment from both swimmers and their families.

Families are expected to:
  • Volunteer during the season as needed.
  • Ensure swimmers attend practices consistently and arrive on time.
  • Register for and attend scheduled swim meets.
All prospective swimmers must complete a swim evaluation (tryout) to determine whether the Bristol Splash program is the right fit for their current skill level.

A separate membership is required to join the team.

Participants will also have to pay for half of the cost of their competition swimsuits, should they choose to purchase one.

Splash utilizes Team Snap for all communications. Please see a coach for more information.

Program Benefits:
By the end of the grassroots program, Swimmers will:

  • Improve their competitive stroke techniques
  • Increase their swimming endurance and overall fitness.
  • Build their self-confidence in their swimming ability.
  • Challenge themselves and others through consistent practice, repetition, and competition as individuals and as a team.
