9th Annual Mayor's Back to School Pencil Hunt

Event Description:
The Mayor of the City of Bristol, Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth & Community Services, and the Bristol Board of Education invite all pre-kindergarten through eighth grade youth and families to the 9th Annual Mayor's Back to School Pencil Hunt! Each participant will engage in a scavenger hunt for pencils, as well as take home an age-appropriate goodie bag filled with school supplies. Youth who pull specially-marked pencils will take home surprise Silver or Gold prizes, in addition to their school supply goodie bag.
The pencil hunt is a fun way to gather some school supplies for the new school year, as well as connect with some friends (or make new ones) over the Summer!
In addition to the scavenger hunt, there will be several community resources, vendors, and activities present to provide information and free giveaways for all. Come on by and check them out!
When: Wednesday, August 19th, 2026
Where: Muzzy Field (15 Muzzy Street, Bristol, CT 06010)
Schedule:
-Pre-K Grade Pencil Hunt: 5:00-5:10 PM
-K-1st Grade Pencil Hunt: 5:15-5:25 PM 
-2-3rd Grade Pencil Hunt: 5:30-5:40 PM-4-5th Grade Pencil Hunt: 5:45-5:55 PM
-6-8th Grade Pencil Hunt: 6:00-6:10 PM
Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to the start of the hunt to help ensure a smooth and timely start!
Cost: FREE!
Registration: No pre-registration required. Participation will be decided on a first come, first serve basis!
