Discipline 1: The Flower – The ABC of Fiber Art
Introduction
This discipline is the starting point of the fiber art journey. “The Flower” represents the beginning; small, quick creations that build essential skills and lead toward more advanced fiber art. This program will run for 12 weeks, every Tuesday from 5:30-7:00PM at Page Park Ski Lodge from May 19 through August 4, 2026, NO CLASS ON JULY 28.
What is the “Flower” Discipline?
Small, fast, and creative yarn projects, ideal for beginners. This discipline builds strong foundational techniques, evolving from simple crafting into detailed decorative art. It is the ABC's and stepping stone of all yarn disciplines.
Program Benefits:
Throughout the 12 week program you'll complete various projects that build your skills while resulting in beautiful, functional items you can use, gift, or display with pride. You'll learn how to work confidently with yarn, develop creativity through flower-based designs, create both decorative and functional items, and transform simple ideas into finished products
What Will We Learn?
- Flowers as Accessories & Wearables: Flower pins (brooches), flower buttons, flower jewelry, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, hair clips, and hair bands.
- Flowers Applied to Objects: Flowers as sewn or glued patches on T-shirts, flower key chains, flowers on pens, and flowers decorating notebooks.
- Flowers for Events & Decoration: Flowers on birthday invitations, yarn flower bouquets, and flowers in decorative vases
- Flowers in Motion (Fun & Modern Use): Moving/shaking flowers for car decoration; flowers hanging from the rear view mirror
Learning Experience: Each student will be provided with all the necessary tools and materials, step-by-step guidance, time and attention to detail, the process continues until precision and mastery of this discipline are achieved.
Teaching Method: Lessons supported with video materials, live demonstrations in class, real-time guidance using a video projector, students can clearly follow every step and techniques
