Artisan Training Program in Fiber Arts
Program Description:
Unlock your creativity and master the timeless skills of fiber art in this hands-on 12-week program. Whether you're a curious beginner or an experienced maker, join our vibrant community and learn to transform simple materials into beautiful handmade pieces, one stitch at a time.
Crochet
Create everything from delicate lace to sturdy baskets using just a hook and yarn. Perfect for beginners with quick, satisfying results.
Weaving
Learn to interlock yarns into gorgeous textural pieces on various loom types. Create wall hangings, rugs, and wearable art.
Knitting
Master the art of creating fabric with two needles. From cozy scarves to intricate sweaters, knitting offers endless possibilities.
Embroidery
Transform fabric with colorful threads and a variety of decorative stitches. Create stunning wall art, embellish clothing, or add personalized details to any textile.
Program Journey
Weeks 1-3: Foundations
Begin with the basics of fiber arts, exploring materials, tools, and fundamental techniques across multiple disciplines. Complete simple starter projects that build confidence and core skills.
Weeks 4-8: Skill Development
Deepen your practice with more complex techniques and longer projects. Learn to read patterns, troubleshoot common issues, and begin developing your personal style.
Weeks 9-12: Creative Expression
Apply your skills to create personally meaningful projects with instructor guidance. Explore design principles, experiment with combinations of techniques, and prepare for continued independent practice.
**All materials are provided! You'll have access to quality yarns, threads, tools, and equipment during class sessions.**
Schedule
The program runs for 12 weeks for 90 minutes, every Thursday from January 15 - April 2, 2026 from 5:30-7PM at the Ski Lodge at Page Park, 649 King Street, Bristol, CT 06010 (located at the bottom of the park, next to the playground).
From Beginner to Confident Maker
Our program is designed to meet you where you are and guide you forward, whether you've never held a crochet hook or are looking to refine existing skills.
You'll leave the program with:
